​​Somnus — Sleep Intelligence

Somnus ("the app", "we", "our") is developed by Thryve Wellness. This policy explains what data Somnus accesses, how it is processed, and your rights regarding that data.

Summary

Somnus analyses health data from Apple Health entirely on your device. Your health data is never uploaded to external servers. We do not collect personal information, run analytics, or serve advertising.


1. Data We Access

Apple Health (HealthKit)

Somnus requests read-only access to the following HealthKit data types. The app never writes data back to Apple Health.

Sleep: Sleep analysis (stages, timing, duration)

Activity: Step count, active energy burned, exercise time, walking/running distance, workouts

Heart & Recovery: Heart rate, resting heart rate, heart rate variability (SDNN), walking heart rate average

Respiratory & Environmental: Respiratory rate, blood oxygen saturation, wrist temperature during sleep, time in daylight

Nutrition (optional): Dietary caffeine, alcoholic beverages

You control which data types Somnus can access through the Health app on your device. Somnus functions with partial access but provides richer insights with more data.

User-Entered Data

- Perceived sleep quality rating (1–10 scale)
- Plan day notes and tags (e.g. "stress", "late meal")
- Plan targets and preferences


2. How Your Data Is Processed

All data processing occurs locally on your iPhone. This includes:

- Sleep score calculation
- Behavioural insight detection and causal pattern analysis
- Sleep experiment (plan) tracking and analytics
- AI-generated narratives and summaries via Apple Intelligence (Foundation Models), which run entirely on-device

No health data, sleep scores, insights, or personal information is transmitted to any server.


3. Data Storage

All data is stored locally on your device using SwiftData. This includes sleep records, activity data, computed insights, plan history, and user preferences.

Deleting Somnus from your device removes all stored data permanently.


4. Third-Party Services

RevenueCat (Subscription Management)

Somnus uses RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions. RevenueCat receives:

- An anonymous identifier for subscription validation
- Purchase and subscription status from the App Store

RevenueCat does not receive any health data, sleep scores, or personal information. See RevenueCat's privacy policy at https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy.

Apple App Store

Subscription payments are processed by Apple. See Apple's privacy policy at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy.

Apple App Analytics

We receive anonymised, aggregated analytics from Apple including app installs, sessions, retention, and crash reports. This data is collected and managed by Apple, contains no personal health information, and is only shared when users opt in via "Share with App Developers" in their device settings. TelemetryDeck (Anonymous Analytics)

Somnus uses TelemetryDeck to collect anonymous usage analytics such as feature usage, screen views, and app events. TelemetryDeck does not collect personal data, device identifiers, or IP addresses. All signals are anonymous and cannot be linked to individual users. No health data is transmitted. See TelemetryDeck's privacy policy at https://telemetrydeck.com/privacy.

No Other Third Parties

Somnus does not integrate third-party analytics services, crash reporting tools, advertising networks, or any other SDKs that collect user data.


5. Data We Do Not Collect

- Names, email addresses, or account credentials
- Location or GPS data
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs (IDFA)
- Contacts, photos, or messages
- Browsing history
- Demographic information (age, gender)


6. Notifications

Somnus sends local notifications for plan check-in reminders, streak milestones, and weekly summaries. These are generated and delivered locally by iOS. No notification data is sent to external servers.

You can disable notifications at any time in Settings or within the app.


7. Children's Privacy

Somnus is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.


8. Data Sharing and Sale

We do not share, sell, rent, or trade your data with any third party. Health data accessed through HealthKit is used solely to provide the app's features and is never used for advertising or marketing.

In compliance with Apple's HealthKit guidelines, health data is not transferred to iCloud or any networked storage.


9. Your Rights

You may at any time:

- Revoke Somnus's access to Apple Health data via Settings > Health > Somnus
- Delete all app data by uninstalling Somnus
- Disable notifications via Settings > Notifications > Somnus
- Cancel your subscription via Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions


10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in the app or legal requirements. The "Last updated" date at the top will be revised accordingly. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
